I have been writing books for more than 30 years, and they have shaped almost every part of my professional life. My first book, 101 Ways to Market Your Business, was published by Allen & Unwin and became a bestseller almost overnight. It opened doors, changed my career and became the beginning of a long and unexpected life as an author.
Over the next decade, I wrote and published 10 more books with Allen & Unwin, most of them focused on helping small business owners solve real problems in practical, honest and commercially useful ways.
My first personal growth and development book, The Me Myth, was published by Simon & Schuster. This book allowed me to explore a deeper part of my work: the human side of success, responsibility, courage and personal growth.
As the publishing world evolved, I evolved with it. Today, I proudly self-publish many of my books, bringing together the standards of traditional publishing with the speed, freedom and commercial flexibility of modern independent publishing.
More recently, Someone Has to Be the Most Expensive, Why Not Make It You? has become one of my most important books. It tackles a major issue in small business: undercharging, undervaluing and the quiet poverty that often sits behind businesses that look successful from the outside.
In 2026, I published The Business of Being an Author, a book built from 30 years of hard-earned experience as a commercial author. It is designed to help aspiring authors understand how to use a book to build credibility, create opportunity and develop a real business around their ideas.
And I am far from finished. I have several new books in development, some for traditional publishing and some for self-publishing. The formats may change, but the mission remains the same: to write books that are practical, honest, useful and built to help people create businesses, ideas and lives of real substance.
Over the last 25 years hundreds of organisations have used my books as gifts for their small business customers, conference delegates and in promotions.
