The Business Bullet — By Andrew Griffiths

Your community needs you.

This Business Bullet is a bit different to most because it is a plug and a call for help. I am a really big believer in the importance of being a great corporate citizen and that means getting behind organisations that make a real difference within the community where you run your business. For me the Salvation Army epitomise the right kind of organisation to get behind.

The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal is kicking off again in the coming weeks – and there has never been so much need to support them. The following article shows the different ways that you can help the Salvo’s – this was done by Shelley Evans-Wild, the Cairns coordinator for the Red Shield Door Knock and collection and one of Cairns greatest corporate citizens.

Most places will have their own “Shelley”, so why not make a call and see what you can do to support the Salvos. And if you are out and about and you see someone collecting at a booth, or someone comes to your home or business and rattles a tin, give what you can afford and thank them for their efforts.

Great businesses get behind great community based organisations. I hope you will get behind the Salvation Army.
