The Business Bullet — By Andrew Griffiths

Do we really appreciate the business we have?

DO WE REALLY APPRECIATE THE BUSINESS WE HAVE?

Well today I am writing my BULLET from New York City. I am over here doing some promotional work with my publishers and doing some preliminary work for a few projects I have coming up in 2010. I love coming to the USA and it has been quite some time since I was here last. Americans are incredibly friendly people – get them on their home turf and they are even friendlier.

I came here wondering if they were still enamored with Australians – and they most certainly are. But what I have really been impressed by is their genuine sincerity when they say “thank you for visiting our country”. They stop, look you in the eye and say “thank you”. I wonder if we are as appreciative of people who choose to visit our country or even support our businesses?

I also notice a real sense of pride in the people about their country. They accept that it has issues, it is far from perfect, but they are fiercely proud to be American – and I really like that. Just as we should be proud of who we are and what we do.

As always, travel broadens everything – our mind, our perspective and sadly our waistline. It does give you a chance to think, to ponder, to observe and to compare, all of which are good things for any human being and especially for anyone in business. So my thought for this Bullet is to take a moment and think about just how appreciative you are of the business you have, your current customers, clients and fans. Imagine life without them. From here, make a point of telling them just how much they mean to you.

Till next time.

Andrew

PS I saw this on a wall in New York City this morning –

“If the Global Financial Crisis hasn’t made you realise that self worth is much more important than net worth, then you missed the point.”

Mmmmmm, kinda makes you think doesn’t it?
