Is it time to get your head out of the sand?

Is it time to get your head out of the sand?

Owning your own business means that there will be times when you have to make hard decisions. Unfortunately making these hard decisions can often be complicated, time consuming, boring, painful or expensive. Often we don’t make the decision we simply ignore it, keep our head in the sand and hope it will go away. The problem is, that these issues rarely go away, instead they fester within your business and within your head.

We all have a mental list of things that bug us in our business. These can be problems that we need to deal with but we just can’t seem to get around to them, the “incompletes” which are those things you have been meaning to finish but for whatever reason never seem to get completed or those issues that drive you nuts but you just don’t know what to do about them. I think most businesses have all three.

I believe that business success is a mental condition. If your head is not in the right place it is very hard, if not impossible, to run a smart, profitable and successful business.

My advice is very simple. Make a list of all the issues that have been bugging you, are incomplete or have been too hard to sort out and set aside a few hours, or a morning or a whole day to get every single “irritation” off your list.

It feels incredibly liberating to wipe the slate clean. Then of course, you can actually get on with doing what you do best, which is running your business. We have more than enough distractions to get in the way of making money. Eliminate as many as you can and you will enjoy the benefits immediately.

But of course the real key to making this work is to do it today…..
